Cold Massive Forming with HEMA
As a highly specialized manufacturer of screws and further parts, products or components by means of cold massive forming, we from HEMA Umformtechnik are your experienced and professional solution provider.
The products we from HEMA manufacture in cold forming processes can be found in a great variety of applications. Parts from the company HEMA are elements of worldwide mobility; you find them in construction and DIY, in furniture and trade fair stands, in audio devices and many further fields of application around the globe.
As an experienced manufacturer and development partner, we from HEMA Umformtechnik are convinced that the manufacturing process of cold massive forming will play a major role in the future.
It is not without reason that we have continuously expanded our know-how in recent years. This also includes downstream processes, above all our competences in thread manufacturing. In the course of our growth, we have also been able to continously expand our production capacities as well as our customer relations
In order to establish the process of cold massive forming in industrial production and development contexts on an even broader basis, we initiated the HEMA technology center. In this way, we want to give designers and engineers a chance to study the possibilities of this manufacturing technology in greater detail, to get to know cold massive forming as an efficient alternative to other processes even better, and even to initiate concrete development projects.

Cold Massive Forming
01-08
Apart from hot forming and cutting, cold massive forming – also known as cold forming – is one of the most important manufacturing processes in metalworking.
When cold forming is applied, the starting material is “cold” formed by mechanical treatment (pressing, compressing, drawing …). The treated metals usually have room temperature to start with: A material temperature that is, as opposed to hot forming, below the so-called recrystallization temperature of the metals. In cold massive forming, the material is plastically deformed by very high pressure. The finished product (e.g. a screw) usually requires different treatment steps. This means that the metal is deformed and treated several times in the cold massive forming process.
Due to our decades of experience and specialization in the area of cold massive forming, we from HEMA have developed an extremely vast expertise: Thus, we not only accompany our customers as manufacturers of parts by means of cold massive forming but also as technical advisors. In this way, we find the ideal solution for your individual requirements. We already support our customers in the development stage. You have an application or products where manufacturing by cold massive forming is worth considering? Then just get in touch with us directly. We take care of your concern in person.

The manufacturing process of cold massive forming is perfectly suited for a whole range of products and therefore industries resp. fields of application. Notwithstanding the differences in size, shape, geometry, etc., the products manufactured by cold massive forming all excel by their high robustness and longevity.
Typical products from cold forming processes are screws, pins, bolts, rivets, nuts, gearwheels, shafts, molded parts, fittings, armatures, mounts etc. We from HEMA have specialized in:
- Molded parts with and without threads (a wide range of bolts, ball-head screws, locking, linking and pressure pins)
- Screw plugs (DIN 906 / DIN 908 / DIN 910)
- Clamp screws (turning plate screws, differential screws)
In principle, we as manufacturers can produce a wide portfolio of possible products by cold forming – depending on our customers’ requirements. The primary production process is always cold massive forming. Depending on the requirement, further treatment or finishing processes may be applied. We from HEMA have also made a name for ourselves for the competences in the field of threading.
With a wide range of powerful machines and plants we are capable of covering a broad spectrum of shapes, sizes and geometries in cold massive forming.
As far as the starting material is concerned, we from HEMA can cover the following dimensions:
- 0.9 up to 15 mm wire diameter
- maximum length of wire section 120 mm
As finished parts, we can manufacture products up to:
- maximum part length 100 mm
- threads M1.4 to M18
- head diameter up to 30 mm
The manufacturing process of cold massive forming offers high flexibility with respect to the shape and geometry of the finished parts. This means that cold formed products feature a correspondingly wide range of applications. Parts from cold massive forming by HEMA can be applied in:
We from HEMA rely on powerful machinery and equipment for the high flexibility in the manufacturing of cold formed products:
- 2 die – 3 stroke presses
- Multistage presses with up to 6 forming stages
The manufacturing competence of HEMA also includes a reliable team of excellently trained experts. In this way, we are perfectly prepared for any requirement.
One of HEMA’s particular strengths is the fact that we are not just a manufacturer using cold massive forming. We also cover the complete upstream and downstream process chain. This makes us an ideal and highly reliable all-round partner. Apart from production, with HEMA you count on:
In-house design with simulation (finite elements) - for individual, custom-fit solutions
In-house toolmaking - for maximum flexibility and speed
Continuous certification - for absolute safety and reliability
For HEMA, cold massive forming is the basis and fundamental principle of all parts produced. In cases where certain geometries or details cannot be achieved, our products are subsequently subjected to cutting processes, e.g. for sharp edges, grooves or cross holes.
In this way, we always combine the best from all worlds to finally be able to offer our customers the perfect products along with the best possible production processes – without compromises in terms of precision, efficiency, and reliability.
As a manufacturer of parts by means of cold forming, our unique selling propositions include threading by the:
- flat-die rolling process
- roll-to-roll process
- roll-segment process
